Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad Thursday visited several areas of the Sumbal Sub-Division to inspect the snow clearance operation and the status of delivery of essential services.
The DC visited several areas of the Sub-Division and inspected the snow clearance operations besides reviewing the power supply scenario and restoration process of different feeders and healthcare services available.
He also visited Sumbal Hospital to inspect Healthcare facilities being provided to the patients and urged upon doctors to ensure better healthcare facilities to the patients and better heating arrangements in wards.
Dr. Owais also visited Sumbal market and directed the Municipal authorities to ensure immediate and prioritized clearance of snow from foot paths, internal lanes and by-lanes.
It was given out that all the feeders of Sumbal have been restored on Thursday and the field staff is working tirelessly to restore the power supply in every part of the district.
The DC directed officers of PDD to ensure replacement of damaged transformers as per given timeline that is within 24 hours in urban areas and within 48 hours in rural areas. He asked them to ensure electricity is restored in such areas at earliest as most of the Water Supply Schemes are dependent on electricity in Sumbal Division.
The DC directed the officers to be prepared to deal with any emerging situation owing to bad weather and asked them not to leave the stations without permission. He asked the officers to ensure attendance in government offices.
He also asked officers to be responsive towards grievances emanating from recent snowfall and ensure the grievances are redressed at earliest.
Dr Owais also reviewed the availability of essential commodities and it was informed that there is a sufficient stock of essential commodities available in the district including LPG, ration, Vegetables and other essentials.
The DC during the visit was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Dr Bashir Ahmad Lone, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Sumbal and other senior officers of the district.
