DC Kupwara takes appraisal of prevailing weather situation

Kupwara: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Anshul Garg Tuesday convened a meeting to take appraisal of response mechanism put in place to deal with challenges following snowfall in the district.
While chairing a meeting of concerned officers, the DC asked all the Engineering Departments to play a pro active role in resolving public grievances.
He asked R&B, Mechanical Engineering, PMGSY and Municipal Council & Committees of the concerned areas of the district to gear up their men and machinery and ensure snow clearance operations as per the already framed plan so that all roads remain open for traffic movement.
He directed PDD Engineers to ensure proper restoration of faulty lines and strictly follow the curtailment schedule of power supply so that people do not face any inconvenience.
Engineers of Jal Shakti (PHE) Department were also asked to ensure that uninterrupted water supply is maintained across the district.
The DC also stressed the need for reactivating already designated market checking squads so that availability of essential goods and price line is maintained. He directed strict action against violators found involved in hoarding and black marketing.
Reviewing the status of control room , the Deputy Commissioner was informed that Disaster Management Control Room with telephone Number: 01955253522 and mobile number : 9419268121 is working round the clock in DC Office Kupwara is being monitored by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone.
The meeting was informed that all major roads including Kupwara-Sopore, Kupwara-Baramulla, Kupwara-Handwara, Kupwara-Willgam, Kupwara-Chowkibal and Kupwara-Sogam are open for traffic movement. While Karnah, Keran and Machil roads are closed due to heavy snowfall.
Regarding availability of ration in border areas, the meeting was informed that adequate quantities of rice and other essential commodities have already been dumped in Karnah, Keran, Machil and other snow bound and cut off areas, which will cater the requirement of these areas up to June, this year.
