Srinagar: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Sopore have arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
A police statement issued on Monday said “ officers at a checkpoint established at Warpora Sopore intercepted an individual identified as Bilal Ahmad Lone resident of Botingoo Sopore and recovered 192 capsules of psychotropic substance from his possession.
“The above referred Botingoo resident has been arrested and shifted to Police Post Warpora where he remains in custody” reads the statement, adding that “ a case FIR No. 04/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation in the matter has been initiated”.
Police in it’s statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
“ Actions against drug peddlers should reassure the people that efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace”, reads the statement.
