Mayor Srinagar takes stock of Post Snow fall situation in Srinagar City…asses ground situation

Srinagar: Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation Junaid Azim Mattu Monday held meeting to take stock of post snowfall work mechanism from various line departments to asses the situation in the Srinagar city on various fronts.

Besides Commisssioner SMC Gazanfar Ali, the meeting was attended by Chief Engineer R&B Showkat Jeelani Pandit, Chief Engineer PHE Iftikaar Ahmed Wani, S. E KPDCL Mir Wali Mohammad, S. E MED Kashmir, S. E Hydraulic Er N. A Kakroo, S.E Drainage Ahsaan ul Haq, Joint Commisssioner Works, Ishtiyaq Ahmed Shah, Deputy Director Planning , Khursheed Ahmed Makhdoomi, Xens, AEE’s and other senior Officers including Secretary SMC, Chief Sanitation Officer and other officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation.

Commissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali updated Mayor that Atleast 3000 Sanitation workers are on job since yesterday early morning to clear up the snow from lanes and by lanes in the city, besides snow clearance drive is being taken up in Hospitals, Religious places, Ration Depos, vital roads, Major Markets , city centre and other important stretches.

Besides utilisation of Man power , twenty JCB’s, Roberts and on the snow clearance machines were put on job.While taking review of Drainage wing , it was informed that all the 85 permanent dewatering stations were fully functional and 32 mobile pumps were deputed in low lying / vulnerable spots in Srinagar City. Similarly while taking review of PDD it was informed that out of 256 feeders in Srinagar city 28 are under restoration where as only four transformers were damaged due to the snow fall which were also under repairs …
Chief Engineer R&B department further informed in the meeting that all the main city roads falling within their jurisdiction leading to Hospitals, Shrines, important destinations, institutions have been cleared up .Mattu hailed PDD for restoring continuously the power lines since yesterday only in snow fall. On essential supplies Mattu was apprised that stock of rice is available for next two and half months, LPG for 21 days, kerosene for thirty days, Petrol for nine days and diesal for eighteen days .The concerned from the PHE department further apprised Mayor that all the water supply related issues were resolved timely.
