Srinagar: The examination for the posts of banking associates in the Jammu and Kashmir Bank will be held as per schedule on Sunday even as the valley received fresh snowfall.

An official said that the examination will be held as per scheduled for the post of Banking Associates. “The examination for the centres in the valley can’t be postponed as it is being held across the Union Territory (UT) under tight schedule,” he said.

The decision was taken even as aspirants from different parts of Kashmir valley demanded for the examination to be postponed in view of non-availability of transport following fresh snowfall.

The test for the recruitment of the clerical staff is being conducted in nine phases across UT of J&K, which started on January 1 and will conclude on January 31, 2021.

Over 1.40 lakh aspirants have applied for 1500 Banking Associate posts advertised by the Bank. The online examination is being conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), Mumbai- sponsored by Indian Banks Association, an umbrella organisation of 227 member banks. Meanwhile, the role of the J&K Bank is observatory in nature to ensure smooth conduct of the examinations.
