11 years on Patwar Khana Gamroo Bandipora still incomplete

Bandipora: Even after passing of more than 11 years a Patwar khana in Gamroo village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district is still incomplete, thereby making locals suffer a lot. The locals said that the building that has been deserted by the concerned department is being used for social evils and a safe living place for animals. This building which is not being used at present for any official purpose by the Revenue authorities is thronged by drug addicts and non-locals especially during the night time. It was constructed under the order of District Development Commissioner bearing number 118 DCB/Adm of 2009 Dated:- 31-12-2009 during the year 2009-10. It was a single storey building with three rooms and the purpose of constructing this building was to set up a Patwar Khana in the area under the supervision of Rural Development Department.

After the completion of work the assigned contractor handed over the said building to the Revenve department. Since then eleven years have been gone and no official has ever visited the building let alone deploying any employees in it. Locals said that in the year 2015, the then Assistant Commissioner Revenue had directed the Tehsildar concerned to depute the concerned Patwari to the building but till date no one has ever visited the spot. Now the building has been turned into a mere garbage dumping space.

Locals have complained that the officials of revenue department know all about the activities going on inside the building but they are acting as mute spectators for reasons best known to them. Recently the said incomplete building was renovated but still it is incomplete and without main gate. Since many Government officals visit the site and promised that the pending/ incomplete work of the building will be started without further delay but nothing has been done on ground. But it was only an illusion or in other words we can say a mere day dream for the villagers who were eagerly waiting for the completion of the building.

While talking with Auqaf President Gamroo Mohammad Shafi who told that we have left no stone unturned and have visited all the concerned Departments but till date nothing has been done. He expresses his opinions in which he said that we are requesting to the higher authorities to pay due attention towards this deserted building. Locals apppeal District Development Commissioner Bandipora to kindly allot some funds for the incomplete work of the building and an offical said we are very soon going to start the work for the restoration of the building. Now time will decide for how long the locals of the area have to suffer.
