Srinagar: Residents of Kremshore and adjoining areas in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday alleged that their landline phones are not functioning properly and demanded higher authorities to look into it.
“Sometime there is no dial tone. At times, there is continuous beep” a group of aggrieved subscribes told Kashmir Horizon as they alleged that local exchange is handled by a staffer who has to oversee non technical works. He is to do everything and in absence of the required know how there are more issues than solutions,” the delegation claimed.
Insiders at the local BSNL office on conditions of anonymity told Kashmir Horizon that batteries are not working properly and consequently dial tone issues haunt gullible subscribers. “Due to non availability of the electricity, we have to run gen set and that too cannot be run continuously,” the official said, adding, “The issues would have been resolved had the batteries been replaced.” He said local authorities have also submitted a proposal the higher ups and three is no response from the top even after huge time gape of more than three months. When asked about the allegations against a non technical person overseeing the technical work at the exchange the official refused to comment.
