Kulgam Police recovers kidnapped girl, accused arrested

Kulgam: Police in Kulgam recovered a kidnapped girl and arrested the person involved in the commission of crime.
A police statement issued on Wednesday said “ Police Station Kulgam received a complaint from a person stating that his daughter was kidnapped by one individual identified as Suhail Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh resident of Nonmai Yaripora.
“A case FIR No. 232/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation was initiated”, reads the statement, adding that “during the course of investigation a team headed by SHO Kulgam after getting specific leads recovered the kidnapped girl and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime. He has been shifted to PS Kulgam where he remains in custody.”
The police in it’s statement further said that after fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs and investigation into the matter is in progress.
Stating that swift action by police against anti-social elements has been appreciated by the locals, the police in it’s statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood and reassured them that efforts are on to curb social crimes.
