Anantnag: Forest officials have recovered illegally cut timber during an operation in SounBarari Kokranag area of South Anantnag district . Sources said that the timber worth several lakhs of rupees was recovered by the forest officials from three kothas of dungnard bahak.
Sources said that Divisional Forest Officer Anantnag Feroz Chaket had receieved credible input about the illegal felling of timber in the forest areas in Dungnard Behk of sounBarari Kokranag at three different places. “As he directed the Forest Control Room Anantnag and local staff to immediately reach the locations where timber was kept hidden, the officials during the raids recovered 191 cft timber from three kothas of Farid Bamla, Kaka Bamla and Umardin Bamla”, the sources said.
Confirming the seizure of timber, DFO Anantnag said that an FIR has been registered against the culprits at a nearby police station and steps have been taken to book the culprits under public Safety Act (PSA) .He further said that he has taken steps in this regard and Harnag and RO Forest Control Room Anantnag have been directed to submit an investigation report within two days after action can be taken against those responsible for the negligence under the rules.
