Srinagar/Dec,7: Saying that the overwhelming participation of the electorate in the recently concluded DDC elections demonstrates people’s trust and faith on democracy and secularism , Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF )Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen urged the Center to hold Assembly elections at the earliest to fully restore and strengthen the democratic values in Jammu and Kashmir.
“DDC elections could be pathbreaking for restoring stalled political process and democracy in jammu and kashmir if carried forward by assembly elections and restoration of allied democratic institutions ” Hakeem said while addressing PDF’s Core Group meeting of district Budgam convened on Sunday to deliberate upon the socio- political scenario post DDC elections in Jammu and kashmir. On this occasion the winning DDC members of PDF were felicitated and garlanded .
Hakeem while expressing satisfaction over the overwhelming participation of people in DDC elections observed that people of Jammu and kashmir have once again reposed thier trust and faith on democracy and secular values. ” Now the onus lies on the Center to respect the socio- political and developmental aspirations of the people , ” Hakeem maintained adding that the people of jammu and kashmir want restoration of thier constitutional rights without further betrayals . He said respecting urges and aspirations of people was imperative to remove prevailing alienation among the people which would be in the overall interests of the country. He said jammu and kashmir is a sensitive border state where internal peace and tranquility was imperative for the integrity and safety of the country.
PDF Chairman has enjoined open the Center to address the long standing developmental needs of the people especially adequate power and drinking water supply and road connectivity . He said Center should announce a special mega employment package for the unemployed youth of jammu and kashmir as the state has minimal industries due to its disadvantageous geographical location.
