Dir Finance HED pays maiden visit to GDC Kalakote

Kalakote: Director of Finance, Abdul Majeed Bhat Friday paid maiden visit to Government Degree College Kalakote along with a team of officers and took stock of the functioning of the institutions.
Assistant Director Planning, Fayaz Ahmed, Accounts Officer HED, M. Hussain Tantray and a Engineer of RUSA accompanied the Director.
The team was welcomed by the College Principal, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta and other faculty members while observing all the precautionary measures and SOPs of the Covid-19 pandemic.
While interacting with the visiting team of officers, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta briefed them about the various problems faced by the college Administration especially the lack of infrastructure. He informed that the college is running in three class room building and thus this problem needs to be solved as soon as possible.
He discussed the plan of the College Administration with the team to shift the college to a vacant girls hostel building till the work of new college building was completed. He said this was necessary for starting more streams, including the science stream to benefit the students. He informed that there is continues demand from the public for the same and for which a request letter has already been sent to DC Rajouri.
The Director Finance assured the Principal that he will personally talk to the DC Rajouri so that the vacant building of girls hostel is handed over to college administration on priority basis till the new college building was completed.
The Principal also discussed about the various plans for the development and welfare of GDC Kalakote with the team.
In this context, he briefed the team about the five Detailed Project Reports which included the construction of Science block, Teachers Quarters, boundary wall, approach road and leveling of the ground etc, in the area where the new college building is under construction.
He further informed that the process of online teaching and E-learning is going on smoothly despite of all the impediments.
Meanwhile, the visiting team enquired about the allotment and the utilisation of funds, which was explained by Principal and the concerned staff/committee members of the College.
On the basis of shared information, the team made certain recommendations which were paid keen attention and noted down meticulously. The team also appreciated the work of the College administration while advising for certain points of improvement. The team also inspected the pace of work on the college campus building at the construction site.
Besides the Principal, faculty members including Prof.Anayat Ullah Khan( Building Incharge); Prof. Sachin Bhagat; Dr. Dinesh Sharma; Prof. Sanjogita Kumari; Dr Afad- Ul- Mujaiba; Dr. Pinkey Rakwal; Prof. Marve Sofi; Dr. Shakoor Ahmed , Parvaiz Ahmad ( librarian) and the supporting staff accompanied the team to the construction site.
The college campus building is being constructed by the J&K Housing Corporation.
