Advisor Bhatnagar inspects ongoing works at CIIIT, Jammu

Jammu: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Thursday inspected progress of ongoing works on Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIIT) being set up at Government Polytechnic College Jammu in collaboration with Tata Technologies.
During the visit, Advisor Bhatnagar took detailed round of the centre and inspected the ongoing works in classroom-cum-labs besides other infrastructure. He also inspected the server room of the centre which will hold the data repository as well as other technical requirements for the centre.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Bhatnagar stressed upon the officials to complete the ongoing works at the centre as early as possible so that advanced courses are made available to the student community.
Advisor also impressed upon the officials to create mass awareness among students across the colleges of Jammu and Kashmir through camps in coordination with Higher Education Department. He also asked them to hold webinars and online counselling sessions to make public as well as students aware about the quality and prospects of the courses offered through CIIIT.
Advisor Bhatnagar further asked the officials to utilise the services of print, electronic and social media to create awareness among the student community so that they are able to make choices well before taking up any of these courses offered.
During the visit, representative of Tata Technologies informed the Advisor that the centre will have high end modern labs with advanced softwares of CAD engineering, robotics, mechanotrics and other courses which will boost the employability chances for students here.
Pertinently, CIIIT is a joint initiative of Government of Jammu & Kashmir and TATA Technologies through which 9 competency centres will be established at Government Polytechnic Colleges of Jammu to strengthen the industry-academia partnerships and training of students as per current and future requirements of the industries.
The CIIIT will also give boost to innovation, incubation and skill development in entire Jammu and Kashmir. Besides, these centres will offer industrial training to students, industry professionals and unemployed youth who want to upgrade their skills to latest technologies used in Thursday’s industrial environment.
Later, Advisor Bhatnagar inspected the ongoing works at 100 bedded Boys Hostel at Polytechnic College Jammu being executed by the PWD Jammu.
Advisor directed the officials to complete the project within the assigned date of completion with all requisite facilities of modern standards so that it can be utilised for the student community at the earliest.
Director, Skill Development, Sajad Hussain Ganai; Principal, Government Polytechnic College, Jammu, Arun Bangotra, HODs, officers from PWD, PDD, Jal Shakti Departments, representatives of Tata Technologies and other staff members were also present on the occasion.
