Woman allegedly killed by her husband in Bandipora village, in-laws go into hiding

Bandipora: A 23-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Saderkoot Payeen village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday morning.
Reports said that a body was lying in her room, adding that the neighbours after spotting the body in the early morning immediately informed the police.
Police later reached the spot and recovered the body in mysterious conditions. Police officials confirmed the incident and said that a case under various sections of law has been registered in police post-Ajas and further investigation has been initiated.
According to the officials, the woman (name withheld), who was in her early twenties, hailed from Laharwalpora village of the district and had reportedly run into some dispute with her in-laws.
The officials said that the medico-legal formalities have been conducted and specimens sent to FSL for further investigation in this regard.
The family, relatives and the neighbours have alleged that the woman was killed by her husband who from day one had been psychologically and physically abusing her. Even the family elders and villagers had intervened a couple of times urging him to resort the matter and also a case too had been registered in this regard with police.
Woman’s sister and relatives said that her husband is a drug addict and would involve in the fight with their sister and her family over petty issues while also giving their sister a bad name.
According to the concerned DO of Police post, Ajas, Qaisar Bashir, investigating the case in his jurisdiction, corroborated with the claims raised by relatives that the woman has been running with some dispute with the husband and in-laws and same was being tried to get resolved with the help of village elders and the families.
According to the officer, the woman was living in a separate room while the husband who after her death is absconding along with other family members.
He said that the cousin giving nearby came for a phone charger in the morning but the deceased didn’t open the room and didn’t even answer the calls so suspecting something fishy a little boy was sent inside through window who only saw the woman lying unconscious while as her husband wasn’t there. The other family members which included her husband’s father and mother were up like routine to have tea in the Kitchen, he said.
Meanwhile, locals and the family has urged authorities to take strict action against the culprits so that it serves as a lesson to everyone so the daughters are not treated as punching bags.
