Srinagar/Dec,20:- Chairman Peoples Democratic Front ( PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has termed the action of Enforcement Directorate (ED) against sitting MP and former Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah as a political vendata to brow beat opposition in Jammu and kashmir.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Hakeem said though no body was above law but the timing and the circumstances suggest that ED action against NC patron and former Chief minister, Farooq Abdullah was sheer political vendata and witch hunting . He said since the day present ruling party at the Centre took over riegns of power, it opts every lame excuse to undermine and subjugate voice of dissent in Jammu and Kashmir including those of mainstream political parties. He said it was most unfortunate that the democratic and constitutional rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir were being trampled with impunity each passing day . He said continued witch hunting against political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir including Dr Farooq Abdullah was deplorable. He described the use of central agencies like Enforcement Directorate (ED) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) to settle scores with opposition political parties was darkest period of democracy in the country.
Hakeem urged the centre to rise above vested political considerations to help to restore democratic and secular values in the politically most sensitive border state like Jammu and Kashmir He has called for bringing flexibility in the Center’s rigid and egoistic policy towards Kashmir polity and shun operation of its unconstitutional and unfair means to score individual political mileage He said present policy of the center towards Kashmir affairs was against the overall interests of the country as it only adds to the already existing alienation among the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
