Srinagar: Employees Joint Consultative Committee on Friday in a letter to Jammu & Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha appealed him not to enhance retirement age 60-65 of college teaching faculty of the Higher Education Department as the same would curtails the chances of regularisation of the contractual and aspirants for new teaching jobs in higher education department .
In a letter addressed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha the Chairman Employees Joint consultative Committee (EJCC) Aijaz Ahmad Khan urged him not to implement any enhancement in retirement age of teaching faculty in higher education department for which a committee has been constituted a month ago. Stating that Government can’t justify this retirement age enhancement in Jammu & Kashmir the time when thousands of unemployed qualified youth are sitting idle and 70% contractuals including doctorates and NET qualifiers are working in degree colleges for many years with the hopes of their permanent appointments, the EJCC Chairman in his letter to LG said “we also allure to reorganise all departments so, that the unemployed qualified youth can also get opportunities of recruitments”. He in his letter to LG further said “better for government to focus on exploring new job avenues for youth rather than retirement age enhancement and also regularize the daily wagers, contractual employees, consolidated workers, contingent paid workers , college local fund employees, need base casual labours, fair price shop dealers, seasonal workers , adhoc employees , rehbar khel beneficiaries , rehbar taleem teachers and rehbar ziraat agriculture assistants working in departments from last twenty years and demand regularisation and benefits under minimum wages act” . He in his letter reminds the Lt Governor that unempolyment is the cause of mental sickness , and depression among youth of Jammu & Kashmir.
