Srinagar: The night temperature has gone further down across Kashmir with Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recording the season’s lowest minimum temperature at minus 6.4 degree Celsius last night.
Officials in the local Meteorological department said that a significant dip in the night temperature was recorded last night across Kashmir and Ladakh.
MeT Deputy Director, Mukhtar Ahmad had on Wednesday this week said that the night temperature would go further down in the Valley in the coming days, adding that there is possibility of improvement in the night temperature on December 20-21 when higher reaches would most likely experience light rain or snowfall.
He had also stated that there is no prediction of any major rain or snowfall till December 25-26.
Witnesses said that the world famous Dal Lake was frozen on Thursday morning after the summer capital here recorded the season’s lowest temperature at minus 6.4 degree Celsius.
MeT spokesman informed that the night temperature at world famous ski-resort, Gulmarg was settled at minus 11 degree Celsius while in Pahalgam it was recorded minus 8.9 degree Celsius.
In Kupwara, the night temperature settled at minus 5.8 degree Celsius while in Kokernag it was recorded minus 4.8 degree Celsius
