Srinagar: A massive fire on the late night on Wednesday has damaged around two dozens shops and goods worth crores gutted into ashes at Army’s 17 Infantry Brigade in Nowagam area of Mawer in North Kashmir’s Handwara.
According to reports fire emerged in the one shop of shopping complex and spread to nearby shops and damaged around two dozens shops.
The locals said panic has gripped among those who living around the army camp after they saw flames.
The shops who were gutted in the devastating fire belongs to locals and few belongs to outsiders.
An victim shopkeeper said this was our sole income and we lost everything in this devastated fire. He however said that maximum shopkeeper belong with in the radius on 2.5 Km of the camp while as few of them belong to outsiders.
Soon after the incident the Fire Tenders and Qalamabad police rushed to the spot and doused the flames.
Meanwhile a police officer also confirmed the fire incident to this Newspaper and said the cause of fire is yet to be Known. He however said that the investigation has taken up in this regard.
