VC SKUAST-Jammu reviews functioning of University

Jammu: Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Tuesday reviewed the monthly progress of different ongoing developmental projects and working of various Academic departments, here at a meeting of the concerned authorities.
He reviewed the functioning of various Divisions of Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, developmental work being carried out in the different KVKs, Research projects of Research Stations of SKUAST-Jammu and functioning of constituent units viz., Farming System Research, Megaseed, Fisheries, ACHR etc.
On the occasion, Professor Sharma stressed upon to speed up the process and formalities for preparation of vocational education modules, establishment of innovation and entrepreneurship development, installation of Wi-Fi facility at both the campuses of university and strengthening of sports facilities to the students.
VC also discussed about the importance of Peri Urban Agriculture, Roof Top Agriculture, value addition with special reference to vegetable & floriculture, strengthening of landscaping, formulation of Farmers’ Producer Organizations, One village one commodity, directory of organic farming growers, setting up of bio-composting units etc and gives the direction to the concerned scientists in this regard.
He further took stock of the status of budget utilization under different components, furnishing of International Trikuta Guest House, Creation and modernization of Research farms, cold storage and seed storage facilities at Chatha, farm mechanization, establishment of Integrated farming systems in different KVK’s.
At the outset Dr. Deepak Kher, Director Planning and Monitoring, SKUAST-Jammu welcomed Vice Chancellor, Statutory Officers, Heads of Divisions, Head of KVKs and Research Station and also put forth the various issues to be taken up for the effective working and utilization of allotted budget. Prof. Kher also briefed the house about the achievements and activities undertaken during November 2020. Meeting was attended by all statutory officers, Heads of different Divisions, KVKs, Research Station, PIs of various Research and Adhoc projects.
