Kupwara: District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Kupwara, Anshul Garg Tuesday reviewed the arrangements for phase-VII of the District Development Council (DDC) election and Panchayat by-election scheduled to be held on 16 December, 2020.
According to the DPEO, 01 DDC constituency viz. Sogam is going for polls on the said date during which Sogam and Lalpora Tehsils will be covered.
The DPEO also informed that 19 DDC candidates, 16 Sarpanch and 170 Panch are in fray in the constituency. He further said 30492 voters including 15715 male and 14777 female are going to exercise their franchise in the Sogam constituency.
Garg said 113 polling stations have been established for which 350 Presiding/Polling officers have been detailed on duty.
The DPEO said all arrangements including security, transport and other relevant arrangements have been put in place for smooth conduct of the election. He also said adequate security of contesting candidates and polling booths and staff has already been beefed up.
Meanwhile, to facilitate smooth conduct of election in DDC constituency Sogam, the authorities Tuesday detailed Polling Staff along with the election material for election duty.
The Nodal Officer, SDM Lolab, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat convened a joint meeting of Zonal & Sectoral Magistrates and Zonal & Sectoral Police officers appointed for phase-VII of the DDC and Panchayat by-election in the district.
On the occasion, the Nodal officer urged upon the magistrates and officers to coordinate themselves for smooth and fair conduct of the election.
