Vijaypur (Jammu): Former minister and senior National Conference leader Surjeet Singh Slathia Saturday lambasted the BJP for retarding development in Jammu and pushing educated unemployed youth to wall by slow pacing recruitment during three years of their misrule and thereafter despite the party ruling at the Centre.

Stepping up campaign in favour of the party candidates in the ongoing District Development Council elections from Vijaypur, Slathia reiterated that his party was committed to equitable development of all the regions of Jammu and Kashmir and its sub-regions besides satiating the urges of the youth.

“The BJP is using diversionary tactics as it had failed in delivering on all fronts, as a result of which Jammu region suffered the most”, Slathia said while addressing workers at Village Radma Khour Salarian, Hira Chack Bandral Karalian in Vijaypur Constituency.

He said the hysteria created by the BJP over discrimination with Jammu fell flat as it subjected the people who mandated them to power in 2014 to lot of miseries, especially on the development and employment fronts. He said its leaders were working at cross purposes because of their self centric policies. He said the problems of the people were pushed to backburner while controversial issues were being raised and encouraged to divert the attention of people from failure on all fronts.

Slathia referred to BJP’s colossal failures and said the people were now realizing their mistake of handing trusting the reactionary forces who knew nothing but dividing people by inciting passions. He said National Conference alone can ensure Jammu and Kashmir as a united and prosperous entity and urged the people to strengthen the party at grass roots level.

He also urged the National Conference cadre to be ready for meeting the challenges and said that concerted efforts are required to be made to further intensifying public outreach programme for identifying the difficulties faced to the people and seeking their redressal.

He urged the workers to vote and support National Conference candidates for ensuring development and strengthening democracy at grass roots level.

Sarpanchs, panchs and prominent citizens were present in the public meetings.
