Comr SMC conducts surprise visit, issues onspot directions to seal illegal structures

Srinagar: Commissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali on Wednesday visited various sites where constructional activities were taking place in order to cross check the status of constructions going on as per the permissions issued. In a statement Issued here said.

While visiting to Umarabad, HMT, Bemina, Badsha Nagar, Moominabad, Commisssioner SMC on finding certain constructions getting deviated from the sanctioned building plans gave onspot directions for sealing of such structures immediately. He further passed on instructions to the Enforcement wing to go for demolition drives at all those locations where illegal constructions were found during his visit. Pertinently Ali takes weekly review from enforcement wing in order to check the status of demolition drives and status of constructions as per the permission. He further monitors the regular updation and progress on demolition drives on a Communication Group having concerned officials as participants in it to seek immediete response on receiving complaints of illegal constructions. The Concerned officials are also being constantly directed to immediately stop work of all those structures at an early stage deviating from sanctioned building plans and act promptly against those structures coming up without permission.
Continuing with its Anti Polythene drive Srinagar Municipal Corporation Wednesday confiscated 50kg polythene from shopkeepers and street vendors in Jawahar Nagar , Rajbagh and Gogjibagh area with a recovery of Rs 1000 as fine being imposed on defaulters. The drive which was headed by SMC anti-polythene officer Shakeel Ahmad said that Anti polythene squad confiscated 750 kgs of Polythene and a fine of Rs 12000 has been recovered from the defaulters for the past one month while carrying out drives in different parts of Srinagar city. We have further been directed by the Authority to intensify the drive and take action against anyone found selling ,stocking , distribution and transportation of polythene in the city said Anti Polythene Officer Shakeel Ahmed.
