Dynasties V/S Despots In Kashmir

Prime Minister Narendra Modi controlled BJP harping on fight against dynasty politics has surprisingly allowed it’s local BJP leadership and other proxies to field some political non entities just for having the qualification of being the close kins of top party leaders in the ongoing DDC elections in Jammu & Kashmir. Interestingly all the kins of top BJP leaders contesting the ongoing DDC elections are new to politics in Jammu & Kashmir as people know nothing about their educational, social and political backgrounds. Not only the kins of the second rung leaders of BJP but the close relations of  top leaders including a close kin of J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina, the daughter of party’s vice president in central Kashmir, the wife of a former MLC in South Kashmir and the relations of a couple of district presidents in Kashmir valley and Jammu region are contesting the ongoing DDC elections. Encouraged by the fielding of their close kins by the key BJP leaders in both Kashmir valley and  as well as Jammu region in the ongoing DDC elections, the leaders of other mainstream parties including the partners of Peoples’ Alliance For Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) and the Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) have also fielded their close kins in different areas of both Kashmir valley and Jammu region. While the kins of the leaders of the constituent parties of Peoples Alliance For Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) fielded in the DDC elections but yet to be introduced in politics include daughter of former minister Peer Mohammad Hussain (previously a PDP functionary and now a National Conference leader), the kins of the leaders of J&K Apni Party yet to be introduced in politics but allowed to contest DDC elections on party ticket include the nephew of party’s senior Vice President Gh Hassan Mir, the mother of an Ex MLA in Sangrama assembly segment and the wife of a former minister in Darhal Rajouri.

Both the Narendra Modi controlled BJP and Altaf Bukhari headed J&K Apni Party promising uncompromising and unrelenting fight against dynasty politics have fielded political non entities in ongoing DDC elections just for the qualification of being the close kins of the top party leaders but in the process the fight against dynasty politics has been reduced to a fight between the traditional political dynasties of Kashmir and the political despots of the present era.

J&K Congress President Gh Ahmad Mir fielding his own son for a DDC seat in South Kashmir is as regrettable as is the nomination of Peer Hussain’s daughter in South Kashmir or Gh Hassan Mir’s nephew in North Kashmir and many others from J&K Apni Party elsewhere in both Kashmir valley and Jammu region. No regrets over the fielding of those kins of the leaders of different parties who were part of the parties before or after the parliamentary elections held last year, but nomination of the kins of leaders who are yet to be introduced in politics by different parties and make their maiden appearance in electoral politics merely for the qualification of being a kin of any former legislator or minster is not only highly regrettable but also questionable. Interestingly both the Narendra Modi controlled BJP and Altaf Bukhari headed J&K Apni Party promising uncompromising and unrelenting fight against dynasty politics have fielded political non entities in ongoing DDC elections just for the qualification of being the close kins of the top party leaders but in the process the fight against dynasty politics has been reduced to a fight between the traditional political dynasties of Kashmir and the political despots of the present era.
