DC inspects distribution, strong rooms for Phase-II at B’la, takes stock of arrangements

Baramulla: In connection with the phase-II of DDC, ULB and Panchayat by-election scheduled on 01 December, 2020, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo Monday inspected polling material distribution centres, strong rooms and other facilities to take of first hand appraisal of various arrangements.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasised upon the concerned authorities to ensure smooth, free and fair conduct of elections. He also stressed upon them to strictly follow all the requisite COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines to avert any kind of eventuality.
The DC added that administration has also made special arrangements with regard to the distribution of face masks, sanitizers and other necessary items among the polling staff.
Meanwhile, DC also inspected counting centres established at various locations and took stock of various necessities during which he exhorted to ensure all the arrangements are made adequately.
Dr Itoo also informed that 32 District Development Council (DDC), 34 Sarpanch, 147 Panch and 02 ULB candidates are in fray for Phase-II in Kunzer and Zaingeer areas. He added that about 94000 voters are slated to exercise their franchise in this phase.
