Awantipora police arrests 2 drug peddlers; contraband substance recovered

Awantipora: Police in Awantipora has arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police statement issued on Monday said “officers at a checkpoint established near Toll Plaza Chersoo Awantipora intercepted a vehicle Santro bearing registration number JK01N- 4631with two persons on board”, adding that “they have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Beigh resident of Malpora Khag Budgam and Mohd Iqbal Mir resident of Iskanderpora Beerwah Budgam”.
Police in it’s statement further said “during checking, officers were able to recover 400 grams of Charas from their possession”, disclosing therein that they have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where they remain in custody.
Stating that vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been sized, the police in it’s statement also said “ a case vide FIR No. 179/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated”.
Police in it’s statement also asked people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Further police in the above referred statement resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers to reassure the society that efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
