DPEO reviews security, other arrangement for Phase-I at Kupwara

Kupwara: District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO), Kupwara, Anshul Garg Friday reviewed the arrangements for smooth conduct of Phase-I election being held on 28 November 2020 in 03 DDC constituencies of Kalaroos, Kralpora, and Tangdar along with Panchayat by-election on vacant seats of Sarpanches and Panches.
The DPEO gave detailed guidelines to the concerned officers to ensure smooth and impartial conduct of polls besides ensuring greater coordination among themselves. He directed them to ensure that the polling starts and concludes within the given time besides, all voters who are in the queue within the premises of polling station by 02 pm are entitled to cast their vote till the end of the last voter.
Garg exhorted the officers to ensure that the last one hour has been specified for COVID-19 positive patients who shall be facilitated properly under close supervision of the Health department.
The DPEO also directed that counting of the votes for Sarpanches and Panches shall be ensured in the same polling station while the ballot papers of DDC candidates are sent to concerned Strong Room for its safeguard. He also shared contact number 9419036370 of the District Control Room and asked all concerned to note it for proper response and communication.
The DPEO further said the counting of votes for Panchayat by-election should be held in presence of concerned AROs and candidates. Meanwhile, the General observer for Phase-I, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat stressed for focusing on Modal Code of Conduct (MCC) and smooth conduct of election.
SSP Kupwara, on the occasion also spoke and gave detailed guidelines to the police, zonal and sectoral officers to coordinate with the magistrates and ensure proper discipline and timing. He also directed them to ensure proper communication with the Election Control Room.
Among others, General observer for Phase-I, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, SSP Kupwara, Ram Ambarkar; ADC Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone; Dy. District Election Officer, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, SDM Lolab, ARTO, all zonal and sectoral magistrates for phase-I, all police zonal and sectoral officers for phase-I were present in the meeting.
