Hakeem asks Centre to pursue Vajpayee’s Kashmir poll doctrine for transparency in DDC elections

Khansahib (Budgam): Saying that prevailing alienation and political uncertainty in jammu and kashmir was the result of repeated betrayals of people’s mandate, Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF )Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Tuesday urged the Center and State Election Commissioner (SEC) to ensure that upcoming DDC and Panchayat Bye elections are conducted in impartial , fair and transparent manner.He said Center should former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s doctrine viza viz kashmir policy and adopt fairness and transparency, in its all manifestations , in the upcoming elections .
Addressing an election rally at Khansahib, Budgam on Tuesday, held to seek votes in favour of PDF candidates for DDC Budgam, Hakeem demanded foolproof arrangements for conducting elections impartially in fair and transparent manner to respect people’s mandate. He said transparency in the upcoming elections was imperative to restore trust of people on democracy and electoral process.He has urged for pursuing Vajpayee’s doctrine on Kashmir for conducting elections fairly He has asked the SEC to get actual ground level feedback about preparedness for holding elections in a fair way so that all doubts and apprehensions are addressed to the utmost satisfaction of people and concerned stakeholders. ” SEC should address concerns of contesting candidates and political parties in fray against any foul play and alleged use of government machinery by a particular party , ” Hakeem said adding that no excuse should be left in conducting elections in a transparent and fair manner. He said people of the Jammu and Kashmir see the ongoing election process as an opportunity to be the part of their developmental needs and civil administration at gross roots level adding that Center and the SEC should rise to the occasion to meet their aspirations. He has cautioned against any attempt to malighn the ongoing democratic exercise.
Seeking mandate in favour of PDF candidates in fray for DDC and panchayat elections, Hakeem underscored the need for strengthening the secular credentials of Jammu and Kashmir which were under the worst ever onslaught from communal and divisive forces. He cautioned the people against the machinations of fringe elements who are all out to divide communities by exploiting religious and regional sentiments of innocent people. ” At this crucial phase of the socio- political history , we have to be united for protecting the special status , honour and integrity of Jammu and Kashmir,” Hakeem urged. He cautioned that some communal parties have waged a war against the very existence and survival of Jammu and Kashmir and were meticulously in the process of trampling all constitutional and democratic norms to fructify their nefarious designs in this regard. ” Onus lies on all patriotic and secular minded parties especially youth to join their hands to defeat evil designs of fringe elements, ” Hakeem maintained.
PDF Chairman assured the people that his party will leave no stone unturned for restoring statehood, special status and domicile rights to Jammu and Kashmir. He exuded confidence that with the active support and cooperation of people, PDF will triumph all odds and succeed in remodeling Jammu and Kashmir.
