Kupwara: Fisheries Department, Kupwara Tuesday conducted a draw of lots for selection of 20 fishermen to be covered under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampadha Yojna (PMMSY) scheme for providing financial assistance to construct low cost houses.
The draw of lots was organised during a function here at TRC Kupwara and was presided over by District Statistical and Evaluation Officer (DSEO) Kupwara, Mohammad Ishaq Shah in presence of members of District Level Committee for selection of the beneficiaries.
As many as 83 fishermen from Kupwara, Handwara, Langate and Karnah participated in the draw of lots during which 20 fishermen were selected for financial assistance under PMMSY.
The Assistant Director Fisheries, Sajad Hussain informed that the selected beneficiaries had to fulfill all formalities and provide no objection certificate from Rural Development Department for not availing any assistance under PMAY or other schemes.
