Pulwama: District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer on Tuesday convened a meeting with the representatives of different political parties to discuss issues related to smooth and successful conduct of the District Development Council (DDC) and Panchayat by-polls in the district.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held with respect to the preparedness and guidelines issued by the Election Authorities for the upcoming by-polls.
The political parties were given a firsthand appraisal about the conduct of polls and regarding the Covid-19 guidelines that needs to be adhered to in letter and spirit during the entire process of by-elections.
The participants were also apprised about the Model Code of Conduct and other guidelines, besides various issues related to the conduct of the elections in the district like the security of the contesting candidates, establishment of counting centres etc.
The DPEO informed the political representatives that elaborate arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the elections.
Among others, Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, Ashish Mishra, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Tral and Awantipora, Deputy District Election Officer and Nodal officers besides other concerned officers and representatives of different political parties were present in the meeting.
