Srinagar: Mudasir Ali, a promising journalist of Kashmir valley who was presently associated with the editorial team of English Daily ” Greater Kashmir” die of cardiac arrest at the young age of 37 years Friday morning. The shocking news of Mudasir Ali’s demise was received with shock and grief by the media fraternity,political leaders, and civil society.
His brother Jehangir Ali took to social networking site face book to confirm the death of Mudasir Ali as he wrote “My brother Mudasir Ali has left this materialistic world”. His colleagues say that he had complained of chest pain Thursday night and succumbed before he could be moved to a hospital. Hailing from the Charar-e-Shareef area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district, Ali was also contributing fo popular news portal “The Wire”. Expressing his shock and grief over Mudasir Ali’s sudden demise founding editor of The Wire, Siddharth Varadarajan wrote on his twitter handle “Mudasir was an outstanding journalist who reported for @thewire_in from J&K from 2016. Diligent, resourceful and meticulous in his work, his death last night of a heart attack is a huge loss.” . Mudasir Ali was a pass out of Kashmir University’s Mass Communication and Journalism department.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that he was deeply saddened over the untimely demise of Mudasir Ali. “Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate demise of young journalist Mudasir Ali. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends & colleagues,” he said in a tweet. In his condolence message, Advisor Baseer Khan said that Mudasir was a bright, talented and hardworking journalist who discharged his professional duties with dedication. Advisor prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul, courage for the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss and expressed sympathy with the journalist fraternity. Government spokesperson Rohit Kansal in a tweet said: “Deeply saddened to hear of the unfortunate and distressing news of the untimely demise of young journalist Mudassir Ali. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.” Director Information and Public Relations, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar also condoled sudden demise of Senior Journalist Mudasir Ali, who passed away today morning due to a massive heart attack. In this connection, a condolence meet was held in the office chambers of Director Information wherein deep sorrow and grief was expressed over the demise of Mudasir Ali. Dr. Sehrish in her address said that his death is a great loss to the society as he played a leading role in highlighting the local public issues through his journalistic work. Dr. Sehrish also offered her deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage for the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Several senior political leaders have also the condoled the demise of Mudasir Ali. National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah, Vice President Omar Abdullah and party leaders expressed grief and sorrow over the sudden demise of the senior journalist.
Omar in Tweet said: “It was a terrible shock to hear of the untimely death of Mudassir Ali. He had a bright career as a journalist ahead of him & the fact that he died so young makes his passing even more difficult to comprehend. May Allah grant him Jannat & his family strength at the difficult time.” In another Tweet, Omar said: “I’ve been interviewed by Mudassir a number of times & tried to dodge his tough questions at numerous press conferences. He was a tenacious reporter, always polite but never easy to fob off. He will be sorely missed. God speed Mudassir.”
Former Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti also condoled the demise of Mudasir Ali. In a Tweet, she said: “Saddened to know of Mudasir Ali’s sudden demise. Have known him for years & he was a great person. Still find it hard to believe. May Allah give strength to his family to bear this loss.’
Peoples Conference Chairman and former minister Sajad Gani Lone in a Tweet said: “Just heard about the passing away of Mudasir Ali, a very talented journalist at the Greater Kashmir. Had sat with him so many times. Hard to believe he is no more. But that is life. My commiserations. May Allah grant him Jannat. Conveyed his condolences to the bereave family and media associates of Mudasir Ali the J&K Apni Party President Syed Altaf Bukhari said “expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, his relatives, friends and colleagues besides the management and editorial staff of Greater Kashmir where the deceased was working”. Bukhari also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage for the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Expressing his shock and grief over the demise of Mudasir Ali the Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen said “Mudasir Ali was a promising journalist par excellence , a noble and humble soul”. He said untimely demise of Mudasir Ali was a great loss which has created a deep void in the field of journalism. He also conveyed his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Condoling the demise of Mudasir Ali former Union Minister Prof Saif Ud Din Soz said “I express my deep sadness on the untimely demise of Mudasir Ali, Sr. Journalist Associated with Daily Greater Kashmir, Srinagar.His sudden demise is a great loss to the fraternity of journalists in Kashmir and more particularly to Greater Kashmir.I offer my condolences to the bereaved family and the community of writers associated with Greater Kashmir.”
The Kashmir Press Club and journalist fraternity of Kashmir also condoled the sudden demise of Mudasir and expressed their sympathies and solidarity with the bereaved family especially with his younger brother Jahangir Ali, who is also a journalist.“The sudden demise of Mudasir, who worked for Greater Kashmir and also contributed to leading national and international media organizations, is indeed a great loss to the journalistic fraternity of Kashmir. Mudasir was one of the finest and hardworking reporters who earned respect among his colleagues by his work. His death has left a void that would be difficult to fill,” KPC in a statement.
In his condolance statement chairman Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum Abdul Qayoom Wani expressed grief and shock over the sad demise of young journalist Mudasir Ali who was associated with Greater Kashmir family. Wani said that the deceased was pious man and very honest professional journalist. He always played vital role in highlighting the miseries of people fearlessly. Wani termed his death a personal loss and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and showed sympathy with the bereaved family and team Greater Kashmir.
Condoling the demise of Mudasir Ali the Doctors Association Kashmur (DAK) President Dr Nisar ul Hassan prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. Calling the death as an irreparable loss, DAK President said his death is a great loss to the media fraternity and has resulted in an unbridgeable void in the field of journalism.
Condoling the demise of noted journalist Mudasir Ali the Private Schools Association Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) expressed its condolences and termed it a great loss for the entire journalistic fraternity. “He was an extremely brilliant and talented journalist who had a bright future ahead,” said G N Var President PSAJK. “In his short career he made a mark for himself through his brilliant reportage. The news of his sudden death is extremely shocking. Our heart goes with his family, relatives and friends.”
