Shopian : District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Shopian, Chaudhary Mohammad Yasin Wednesday convened a meeting to finalise arrangements for phase-I of District Development Council and Panchayat by-elections in the district.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on the arrangements put in place for smooth conduct of ensuing DDC, Panchayat by-election besides ensuring suitable arrangements at the polling stations on the date of polling.
The DPEO on the occasion gave necessary instruction to the concerned officers/ officials to perform their duties and responsibilities efficiently during the election process and stressed upon them to work in coordination to get best results at ground level.
He asked them to remain more vigilant and prompt to their duties and remain in touch with the District Election Office for timely coordination.
He also directed all concerned to go through the election hand book for attaining more knowledge about the election process.
The DPEO discussed several issues including availability of all basic facilities at each and every polling station i.e, drinking water facility, uninterrupted electricity, washroom facilities, heating arrangements and other necessary furniture items.
The DPEO stressed on the concerned to strictly implement the COVID-19 SOPs during the election and counting process. He said that wearing masks and maintaining social distancing be adopted at each polling station.
Among others, ASP Shopian, Nodal Officers, Ex. Engineers of PHE, PDD and PWD, Chief Education Officer, DPO, BDOs, ZEOs and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
