Srinagar: Noted social activist and TV panellist Irfan Hafiz Lone on Wednesday filed nomination papers for contesting district development council elections in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer, Irfan confirmed that he has decided to join electoral fray as an independent candidate from Sangrama segment
“I have joined the electoral fray to defeat BJP’s proxies in Kashmir,” he said.
Locals said Irfan’s entry into the electoral arena has changed political equations in the segment. “He has lot of goodwill and public support in the area,” they said
