KATHUA: Forty Eight (48) nomination papers have been received for by-elections to different Panch and Sarpanch seats of Panchayat Halqas and District Development Council constituencies of Bani and Lohai Malhar blocks.
A total of 19 candidates filed nomination papers for DDC elections including 6 in Bani and 13 in Lohai Malhar, 24 for vacant Sarpanch seats, including 3 for Panchayat Halqas of Bani and 21 for Panchyat Halqas of Lohai Malhar, while 5 filed nomination for vacant Panch seat(s) of Panchayat Halqa(s) of Bani.
After scrutiny, 1 nomination for vacant Panch seat of a Panchayat Halqa of Bani block was rejected.
The last date for withdrawal of the candidature for the first phase is November 16, 2020, while polling is scheduled to be held on November 28.
