Awantipora: Awantipora police arrested a person impersonating as an Anti Corruption Bureau Official.
A police statement issued on Friday said “Awantipora Police received a complaint from a resident of village Dadsara area of Tral that a man stopped him while he was driving a car near Toll Plaza Awantipora and introduced himself as Anti Corruption Bureau Official”, adding that “ he further said that after searching my car he also asked for my phone number. Later on, during evening hours he called on my phone number with the intention to extort money from me”.
Stating that acting swiftly on this complaint, the statement said “Awantipora Police taking aid of modern technique were able to identify the person as Mohammad Amin Wani resident of Zafron Colony Pantha Chowk and subsequently arrested him from Pampore area”, adding that “ a case FIR number 164/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated”. Police in it’s statement has also asked people not to fall prey in the hands of such fraudulent people. Police has resolved to act tough against inimical elements.
