Jammu: The Enforcement wing of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Jammu has recovered a fine of Rs 1.14 lakh from 380 erring traders during market checking in Jammu division.
During the course of market checking, a total of 1811 inspections were carried at various business establishments and a punitive sum was collected from erring shopkeepers including those selling poultry items, chicken, mutton, fruits and vegetables etc for violating the Essential Commodities act, 1955.
The Department of FCS&CA has also issued stringent warning to defaulters that any future default will invite stringent punitive measures including police action.
In view of festive seasons the department of FCS&CA has carried out aggressive surprise checking to control unfair price rises by traders and retailers. Different teams comprising of Assistant Directors, Inspectors and Tehsil Supply Officers were formed by the department to carry out extensive drives.
