Jammu : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a head constable while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 and conducted searches at the residence of the said head constable.
In a statement issued on Tuesday the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said that it received a complaint on November 10, wherein the complainant alleged that his vehicle was hit by an army vehicle at Tanda Akhnoor on October 7,in which he was injured. “At this, a case FIR was registered at Police Station, Akhnoor” the statement reads adding that “in the said case, Investigating Officer namely HC Mohd Rafiq of P/S Akhnoor demanded an amount of Rs. 10000/- on the pretext that he will prepare the charge sheet against the Army vehicle driver and produce the challan against him in case he did not pay him 10,000/”
Stating that on the basis of this complaint, case FIR No.20/2020 U/S 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018 r/w PC Act 1988 was registered at PS ACB Jammu, the ACB in it’s statement said “a team was constituted which laid the trap in which the accused, namely HC Mohd Rafiq of Police Station Akhnoor was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 10000/- from the complainant”.
The ACB in it’s statement further said that search was also conducted at the residence of accused namely HC Mohd Rafiq and the investigation of the case is underway.
