Srinagar : Police in Ganderbal arrested a bootlegger and recovered 75 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.
In a statement issued on Monday police said “officers at a checkpoint established at Shuhama crossing intercepted one person riding on a Scooty bearing registration No. JK-01AB-7833”, adding that “he has been identified as Ali Gulzar Bhat resident of Alamgari Bazar Hawal”. Stating that during search, officers were able to recovered 75 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession, Police in it’s statement said that he has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. “Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized”, the statements reads.
Police in it’s statement also said a case FIR No. 228/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Ganderbal and further investigation has been initiated.Locals have asked police to continue such drives in future as well. Police has resolved to act tough against inimical elements and appealed people to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
