Srinagar: National Conference on Saturday said that the people of J&K and Ladakh irrespective of their backgrounds, religion or region need to come together and collectively fight for the restoration of rights unconstitutionally snatched from them saying unity is the need of the hour to get our abridged rights back.

Addressing a women’s wing meeting here at Party HeadQuarters Nawa e Subha, Party’s Women’s Wing State President Shameema Firdous said the people of Jammu and Kashmir especially women have to actively participate in the struggle for restoration of dignity and rights of people of J&K, Ladakh.  YNC Provincial President Salman Ali Sagar, Provincial President Women’s Wing Kashmir Er. Sabiya Qadri were also present on the occasion. The meeting saw a huge participation of women’s wing functionaries from across Kashmir Division.

Exhorting the women functionaries , Shameema Firdous said that the people of J&K are facing history’s biggest ever challenge  and that the need of the hour demands to strengthen the efforts of Dr. Farooq Abdullah for the restoration of people’s rights that were unconstitutionally , and unilaterally abridged on the 5th of august last year. She said the ongoing peaceful battle for the restoration of people’s infringed rights is inclusive and that the road ahead was intractable without the active participation of women.

“The women of Kashmir are dialectical of struggle, perseverance and hard work.  Today we are fighting a battle not just for our dignity, but for the dignity and future of our coming generations. Therefore it is imperative for us to unite and not let prejudices impede us from achieving our rightful goal. Our struggle is peaceful and constitutional. Resilience is the name of Kashmiri women; our history will always remember the endurance of Madre Meharban and numerous women workers of ours for exhibiting fighting spirit. The present times are no different , it is a battle for our very survival , our identity, our land , our rights;  therefore contrary to stereotyped nature of being non participant in politics , women have to come forth and participate in the ongoing peaceful struggle for the restoration of our infringed rights,” she said.

The women’s wing President exhorted the party functionaries to increase their public contact to ensure that those who are at need are attended to.
