DPEO G’bal sensitizes Nodal Officers for upcoming Bye-Elections

Ga’bal: District Panchyat Election Officer (DPEO) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal Friday chaired a meeting of Nodal Officers for Panchayat bye-elections to sensitize them about their role and responsibilities in DDC, Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) bye-elections in the district besides to review arrangements for smooth conduct of upcoming elections.
At the onset of meeting, the Nodal officers were sensitized about their role and responsibilities during various stages of elections. They were sensitized about process of nomination, scrutiny, polling material, implementation of model code of conduct, expenditure during election and other related arrangements.
The meeting also discussed various arrangements for smooth conduct of elections like security arrangements, establishment of control room, facilities at polling stations, communication plan, poll staff arrangements, availability of masks, and hand sanitizers at polling stations, COVID plan, transport management and other relevant arrangements.
Speaking on the occasion, the DPEO stressed on working in coordination and synergy besides directed for making all the requisite arrangements well in advance.
He also exhorted to ensure all basic facilities at each designated polling station and emphasized to assure elections are conducted in free, fair and transparent manner.
The meeting was attended by the SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal, ADC, Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACR, ACD, Dy. DEO, CEO besides other designated nodal officers.
Meanwhile, DDC also convened a meeting of Education Department with concerned officers to finalize the arrangements for the forthcoming 11th and 12th class board exams.
During the meeting it was informed that sufficient number of examination centers have been setup in the district with deployment of adequate staff to ensure smooth conduct of the exams.
The DDC stressed for making proper seating arrangement at the examination centres including power supply, drinking water, traffic regulation, besides security arrangements.
During the meeting it was given out that section 144 shall be implemented in and around the examination centers in the district.
