Srinagar/Nov,6: A militant was killed in an overnight gunfight in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district , police said on Friday morning.
Police said gunfight erupted in Lalpora Pampore after hiding militants fired upon a search party of the government forces during a cordon and search operation in the area, adding that, during the exchange of fire two civilians were injured and are undergoing treatment at a local hospital. The government forces maintained a tight cordon of the area throughout the night and in the exchange of firing on Friday morning, one militant was killed, Police said.
Kashmir Zone Police on it’s twitter handle wrote “one unidentified militant killed, operation on”. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice The identity and group affiliation of the slain militant was being ascertained, the official said, adding that the operation is underway.
