Srinagar/Nov,6 : Former Union Minister Prof Saif Ud Din Soz on Friday alleged that vested interests and a section of administration, is deliberately misleading public opinion on the question of the J&K State’s Special Status and its restoration. He called upon the mainstream leadership of Jammu and Kashmir to remain alert on “dilution of J&K’s special status and struggle for it’s restoration
In a statement issued here on Friay Soz said ““ vested interests and a section of the administration, is deliberately misleading public opinion on the question of the J&K State’s Special Status and its restoration”, adding that “What the people of the State demand is the restoration of Article 370 of the Constitution of India or its exact statutory equivalent”, adding that “what a section of Administration in the state speaks of, is the restoration of statehood from Union Territory back to Jammu and Kashmir State, which is a deliberate attempt to mislead the people of the State”.

It was a folly on the part of the Central Govt. to have reduced the status of the J&K state into a Union Territory. They may or may not correct this folly but the people of the State essentially want restoration of the political status under Article 370 or its exact equivalent!

Soz further said “the people of the J&K State must know that since the Central Govt. is hostile to the people of the State as for the dilution of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, it means that the people have to be ready for a sustained democratic and constitutional struggle for restoration of the political status guaranteed under Article 370 of the Constitution of India.

Stating that “the struggle of the people of the J&K State is for restoration of Article 370 or its exact equivalent in political and constitutional terms!”, Soz said “the Kashmir Mainstream would be well advised to spearhead the movement in the right direction.”
