Kulgam: Police in Kulgam arrested a bootlegger and recovered 30 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession. A police statement issued on Wednesday reads as under :
Officers at a checkpoint established near Khudwani Bridge intercepted a vehicle Santro bearing registration No. CH03S-2596 with one person on board. He has been identified as Showkat Ahmad Hajam resident of Behramshah Anantnag. During search, officers were able to recovered 30 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Qaimoh where he remains in custody.
A case FIR No. 68/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Qaimoh and further investigation has been initiated. Locals have appealed police to continue such drives in future as well. Police has resolved to act tough against inimical elements.
People have been asked to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Police in it’s statement has said that people indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
