Srinagar/Nov,3:Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF), Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen vehemently opposed new land Laws in Jammu and Kashmir terming them a deep rooted conspiracy to change the peculiar demographic character of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state. He said new land laws,in any manifestation, are disastrous and detrimental to the special identity of Jammu and Kashmir. He demanded immediate restoration of Maharaja’s state subject and domicile laws to ensure protection of special identity of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued on Tuesday Hakeem while demanding complete roll back of the new land laws, said that it was a cause of great concern that Jammu and Kashmir has been opened up for sale to every non state subject. He said the government at the Center has under the garb of industrial promotion and employment generation for the Jammu & Kashmir youth opened up flood gates for all non J&K residents especially business houses and influential industrialists to turn the state into a colony. He said new land laws , if allowed to be implemented, would ruin the future of a glorious erstwhile special category state of the county which has already been downgraded to a union territory.
Hakeem said though development of industries was imperative for employment generation but the way lakhs of kanals of precious land hahave been earmarked in anticipation , for sale to the prospective non j&k resident industrialists has exposed the intent of the entire game plan to change the demography of Jammu,Kashmir and Ladakh. He said people of all the three regions of the erstwhile j&k state are up in arms against new land laws and demand immediate roll back.
Hakeem reiterated his party’s demand about restoration of statehood , protection to its land and employment and domicile rights as guaranteed under Constitution of India. He said people of Jammu and Kashmir want protection of their identity and honour at any cost adding that fiddling with its special demographic character would be fought tooth and nail. He said that people of Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir, in one voice, have woken up against the new land laws and want restoration of all the Constitutional guaranteed to protect its rights on land and jobs without any delay.
