DC Budgam inaugurates CME on Cardiovascular Health

Budgam:The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza Monday inaugurated Continuing Medical Education (CME) on Cardiovascular Health here.
The CME on Cardiovascular Health was organised by Chief Medical Officer Budgam in collaboration with Gauri Healthy Heart Project (GHHP) and internationally acclaimed cardiologist Padmashiri recipient Prof (Dr) Upendera Kaul on the occasion gave the talk on ‘Hypertension and Diabetes: A Deadly Duo’.
In his inaugural address, the DC thanked Dr. Kaul for conducting free heart camp at SDH Kremshore and CME at conference hall, DC office Budgam.
He said heart problems are very much related to poor lifestyle, and awareness about heart diseases is need of the hour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kaul said approximately 3 lac people in District Budgam may be having hypertension and studies suggest that 70-80 percent diabetes have hypertension. In addition to sugar control, blood pressure control is also necessary.
In his address, CMO Budgam, Dr. Tajamul Hussain emphasized on the importance of heart health for the overall health of an individual.
During the program, Geriatric Consultant, Dr. Zubair Saleem encouraged the doctors present in the CME to prescribe medicines from Jan Aushadhi store adding that they have a record number of 3977 elderly patients who are taking their medicines exclusively from Jan Aushadhi stores.
He said Jan Ashudi medicines are not only affordable but have efficacy as good as any branded medicines in the market.
Ajaz Rashid, CEO GHHP also spoke on the occasion and expressed happiness that all the key medical fraternity of the district participated in the CME.
He said this is a new beginning for a healthy heart mission in our society”.
