New Delhi: The 3-day National Conference on Vigilance and Anti-Corruption concluded in New Delhi yesterday through video-conferencing.
An official statement said the Conference had wide ranging deliberations on issues relating to tackling corruption. “Ways and means of utilization of various international networks for law enforcement cooperation were deliberated. Role of Training and Capacity building along with attitudinal change was identified as key aspects for Preventive Vigilance,” the statement added.
Technological interventions like Government e Market place (GEM) developed as a part of Digital India Initiative were discussed and how it has contributed in establishing contactless, paperless, cashless system of public procurement by bringing transparency, fairness and competition.
Need for close coordination between anti-corruption investigative agencies, vigilance and audit institutions was highlighted. New trends in organized crime and modus operandi were noted.
Importance of following the money trail in criminal investigations and enabling seamless coordination among law enforcement agencies to address all dimensions of an investigation in an effective manner were deliberated.
Advances in forensic science, digital analysis and deductive process have added new dimensions for collection of evidence in criminal investigations. Several investigative good practices which have been developed across law enforcement agencies in the country were discussed.
The Valedictory session of National conference on Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, on the theme (VIGILANT INDIA, PROSPEROUS INDIA) on a virtual platform was chaired by Sanjay Kothari, Central Vigilance Commissioner.
Sanjay Kothari, highlighted the need to recognize public servants serving with integrity and importance of honest leadership at the top of any organization.
Speaking on the occasion, Rishi Kumar Shukla, Director, CBI mentioned of strengthening synergy among law enforcement agencies within India and for continuous capacity building through training. He stressed on sustained deterring action against corruption through speedy investigation and expeditious prosecution of cases.
Shukla also appreciated the overwhelming response from States/UTs/Central Agencies & their contributions to the deliberations and thanked for their whole-hearted participation.
The participants included Heads of Anti-Corruption Bureaux, Vigilance Bureaux, Economic Offence Wings/CID from States/UTs, CVO’s, CBI officials and representatives from various Central agencies. The CBI had organized The National Conference on coinciding with ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’, which will be observed in India from 27th October to 2nd November, 2020.
‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ is observed every year and affirms India’s commitment to promotion of integrity and probity in public life through citizen participation. Praveen Sinha, Additional Director, CBI gave the vote of thanks
