Shopian: The Health Department, Shopian Thursday conducted a training program here under the chairmanship of Chief Medical Officer Shopian on spread and control of Covid-19 virus in the district and preventive measures to be taken in this regard.
Prior to the study, survey teams were trained for administration of questionnaire and sample collection and transport. These survey teams made house-to-house visits in the selected clusters and, after obtaining a written informed consent, interviewed eligible adults according to a predesigned questionnaire using Epicollect5 mobile application.
Speaking on the occasion, CMO said the training of human resources to be involved in the activity has already started and the National Health Mission will fund the activity. He also said Shopian district will have its first sero-prevalence study which will start from 2nd of October, 2020 Monday for two days.
During the course 400 blood testing samples shall be collected for which five teams have already been nominated and the results of these samples shall reveal the extent of immunity against COVID19 in the community. It will also help develop future strategy – lifting of restrictions on activities due to the pandemic.
Among others, trainers, doctors, para-medical staff from SKIMS, Medical College Srinagar and representatives of World Health Organisation (WHO) participated in the training program besides, Medical officers, Lab Technicians and other field staff who were apprised about the procedures requisite for conducting the survey.
