DGP Dilbag chairs condolence meeting at PHQ, officers recall the qualities of departed officer Mohanti

Srinagar: To mourn the demise of M.K Mohanti 1971 batch IPS officer of J&K cadre a condolence meeting was held at police headquarters under the chairmanship of Director General of Police Dilbag Singh. The condolence meeting was attended by ADGPs A. K. Choudhary, S. J. M. Gillani, A G Mir, IGPs, M. K. Sinha, Vijay Kumar, Alok Kumar & Director ACB Anand Jain, DIG Central Kashmir, Amit Kumar, All AIGs of PHQ, SP Budgam and other senior police officers of PHQ.
Speaking on the occasion, the DGP expressed profound grief on the demise of the officer. While expressing his sympathies with the bereaved family the DGP highlighted the qualities of head and heart of Mohanti. The DGP prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and said that the department stands by the bereaved family in this hour of grief. Earlier, ADGP Coordination PHQ S J M Gillani while speaking about the life of the departed officer said that Mohanti , an IPS officer of 1971 batch was born in the year 1949 and after joining the J&K cardre, he served as ASP Srinagar, SP Leh, SP Crime & Railways, SP CID, CI Jammu, DIG CID, Director PTC and DIG Crime. In the year 1990 he went on deputation to the Government of India and returned in the year 1999 and was posted as Transport Commissioner. On his promotion as ADGP, the officer served as ADGP Home Guard & Civil Defense, ADGP Security and DG Prisons. In the year 2009 after more than 38 years service, the officers retired as Transport Commissioner. The officer was awarded with the medal for Meritorious Police Service in the year 2003. Two minutes silence was observed by the officers as a mark of respect to the departed officer.
