Srinagar: Gunfight battle broke out between militants and government forces in Mouchwa area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday evening.
Reports said a joint team of Army’s 50RR, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police jointly launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Mouchwa this evening after receiving inputs of presence of militants.
An official said that as the joint team of forces encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.
A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of firing between militants and security forces and said the gunbattle is underway
