Govt defaulted on fast-tracking of recruitment process in Kashmir: NC

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Wednesday expressed dismay over the sluggish attitude of the bureaucratic J&K government over addressing the issues of youth.
Senior Party Leader and State Secretary Sakina Itoo made these comments while chairing a meeting of constituency in-charges of District Kulgam at DH Pora, Kulgam. Senior leader Peerzada GA Shah, District President Kulgam Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi and Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar were present in the meeting.
On the occasion the leaders unanimously condemned the back to back ED summons to Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah. The leaders said such coercive tactics will not deter the party from fighting for the constitutional rights of the people of J&K. Restructuring and reorganization of YNC Kulgam was discussed in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Sakina said the new normal, post unilateral, unconstitutional and undemocratic rescinding of J&K’s special status destroyed all the viable economic activities in the region and cost people their employment. The youth Sakina said bore much of the brunt of the imprudent and divisive policies of the center. “As if what was done on 5th of August last year was not enough, the local youth of J&K were made to stand in queues to get domicile certificates. The promises made by the government on ushering in an era of development have also fallen flat. On the contrary the people of J&K, especially the youth, find themselves at crossroads. The failure of the government to rise up to the occasion and address the concerns of people has further compounded the issues faced by our youth,” she said.
She further said the government has defaulted on the promise of providing jobs to youth, saying the promises on fast recruitment, private investment and other promises have not been realized and that the ground reality was different. She said the development scenario in South Kashmir received a setback since 2015 and that nothing substantial was done by the government to augment the infrastructure in south Kashmir. She further said that augmenting infrastructure was a far cry and that the government has even failed to ensure basic civic amenities to people through the year. Meanwhile, Youth National Conference Provincial President (Kashmir) Salman Ali Sagar on Wednesday said that the central government has failed on the promise of fast-tracking the recruitment process in Kashmir, saying the youth of today are disillusioned, and angry due to false promises of the government. He made these comments while addressing a meeting of YNC functionaries in Beerwah. On the occasion, the participants unanimously condemned ED summons to the Party President Dr Farooq Abdullah, terming the measures vindictive and coercive. The meeting was organized by Salman Matoo, and Rayees Matoo. Among other issues, the YNC reorganization and restructuring was also discussed in the meeting.
Salman said the promised private investment in the region, and filling up thousands of pending vacancies in J&K in a transparent and fast-tracked manner have proven as good as the previous promises made by GOI from time to time. “Delegations after delegations come to meet us to narrate their ordeal they are facing in wake of the administration’s failure to tackle issues of the youth. The situation in the education sector is no different; it is as bad as any other sector. This government is completely mute and visionless on the problems faced by educated unemployed youth,” he said.
