Bandipora: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, Tuesday attended a series of events in Bandipora on culmination of ambitious “My Town My Pride” program in Bandipora town.
Principal Secretary Skill Development, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad, Senior Superintendent of Police Rahul Malik, Additional District Development Commissioner Afsar Ali, Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Chairman Municipal Council, Basharat Ahmad and other senior officers of the district were present on the occasion.
Farooq Khan also attended sports festival at SK stadium Bandipora organized by district administration in collaboration with Municipal Council Bandipora, District Youth Services and Sports Bandipora and Bandipora Police and witnessed several games.
Later, Advisor attended public interaction program at Nishat Park in which more than a dozen of delegations and individuals called on him and apprised him of various issues of public interest including augmentation of electricity and water supply infrastructure, improvement of urban drainage system, beautification of town, construction of mechanized car parking in town, construction of DIET complex in Bandipora, establishment of IT park and women college and augmentation of health infrastructure in the town besides job opportunities for educated skilled and unskilled youth.
The delegations included Traders Federation Bandipora, Civil Society Bandipora, members of Ashiana (NGO), Volunteer Group of Bandipora, Youngsters Group of Bandipora, Ali Sports Academy and Kulusa Welfare Society.
Advisor Khan gave a patient hearing to the delegations and assured them that the issues raised by them will be looked into for redressal.
Farooq Khan said encouraged by overwhelming public response to ‘Back to Village’ program the Lieutenant Governor gave an innovate idea of reaching out to the urban population by launching “My Town My Pride” program across the UT. He said the government is committed to empower the Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies to ensure desired development of villages and towns.
Advisor impressed upon the public to monitor the development process in their areas to ensure tangible development of their areas. He appreciated the efforts of DC Bandipora for roping in youngsters in MTMP program and said the future lies with the younger generation and they need to come forward and visualize the future of their city and town and work to achieve that goal.
Principal Secretary Skill Development said the MTMP program ensures holistic and need based development of urban areas of Jammu & Kashmir. He said during this two-day program where he had a detailed assessment about a range of issues faced by the people in urban areas. He said the government is out at the doorsteps of the people to listen and assess the grievances and take long term and short term measures to ease out problems of the people. He asked the officers to be responsive to their needs and demands. He further asked the officers to make efforts for ensuring maximum saturation of social security and beneficiary-oriented schemes.
Earlier, DC apprised the Advisor of achievements on various major projects and other development activities taken up by different departments across the district.
Later, Advisor handed over keys of houses to the beneficiaries of PMAY(U) and honoured the COVID warriors.
Advisor along with other dignitaries laid foundation stone for community hall at Ranger Khan (Nowpora) and beautification work on Kaloosa Bridge. They also visited ITI Bandipora, Girls Higher Secondary School Bandipora and BMS Lankershipora.
