Reach out to urban population with governance at their doorsteps: Advisor Khan to Officers

Ramban: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, Monday launched two-day long programme “My Town My Pride (MTMP)” at Banihal, a pivotal initiative of the government to ensure development of Municipal areas.
Government redoubled its efforts to ensure participatory development of UT of Jammu and Kashmir, the Advisor said.
Farooq Khan inaugurated Volleyball tournament, inspected departmental stalls, distributed sports kits and addressed a well attended public meeting besides interacting with members of MC Banihal and the general public and listened to their grievances.
Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan, SSP, Hasseb ur Rehman, President Muncipal Committee, Banihal, Farooq Ahmed Wani, MC’s Members and various district and sectoral officers besides general public attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion Farooq Khan said the Government is going to formulate District Development Councils to ensure development of every nook and corner of the districts besides strengthening grassroots democracy.
He said after the overwhelming response to Back to Village programme the government has launched “My Town My Pride” programme across the districts.
He said elected representatives have been empowered to ensure desired development of their towns and government has given thrust to the developmental activities. Rs 50 lakh, Rs 1 crore and Rs 5 crore will be released to each Municipal Committee, Municipal Council, and Municipal Corporation, respectively.
He stressed upon the President, Vice President and members of MC to use funds judiciously for visible impact on the ground.
Responding to the issue of shortage of doctors and other paramedical staff in health institutions, Advisor Khan said the government has initiated the process to appoint 900 doctors to improve health facilities in rural as well as urban areas across the UT.
He directed the officers to focus on the time-bound delivery and issuance of important documents, certificates; revenue services, besides ensuring maximum saturation of Social Security and beneficiary oriented schemes, and ensuring mobilization of funds towards meaningful developmental activities as per the needs of the local population.
Farooq Khan emphasized upon the officers to use this platform for on spot grievance redressal, instant delivery of services to the masses, and speedy execution of people-centric projects”.
Advisor impressed upon the public to monitor the development process in their areas to ensure tangible development of their areas. He also appreciated the efforts of QRT Banihal to deal with emergency situations.
Earlier, DC apprised the Advisor about the achievements on various major projects and other developmental activities taken up by the different departments across the district.
